It happened.

I just moved into my permanent apartment for the next 9 months, I remember clearly my mom telling me  when we were about to chose the apartment that one of the upsides of it was that it was next to a vast street of food stores and such, immediately I was sold. About two nights ago when we finally moved in, it was late and my mom told me she would go shopping for some ingredients and then I could cook. From what she had explained earlier I expected her to come back with a plethora of gorgeous french ingredients and proteins. But no, she came back I kid you not almost in tears saying that those old streets where there used to be several butchers and vegetable venders are now all clothing stores and empty spaces, she could barley even find a supermarket in the neighborhood. Once she did everything was prepackaged and overly processed, not the type of produce you expect from france. The next day when I returned from school my mom was waiting for me, with a enormous smile she said that she had a surprise for me, not telling me what she took me through blocks and blocks, secret passage ways and tons of little streets. We ended up in foodie heaven, hidden away from all the chaos of city life there it was, a magical street filled with specialty food stores, butchers, vegetable stands, creameries you name it. It was one of the most magical moments of my life to find this old world french street just for foodies alike. I had my Julia moment.
This is paris.
